Partner in Publishing is seeking an HR Benefits & Compliance Manager on behalf of our client, a leading provider of language learning products for K-12 and Higher Education schools and universities.  


This role is based in Boston and is hybrid, with at least three days per week in-office time required.

WHAT IS THIS ROLE ABOUT?  

We are looking for a solution oriented, creative, and people-focused HR Benefits & Compliance Manager to join our team. As part of a lean, agile, collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to wear multiple hats and flex your HR muscles in a variety of practice areas particularly in the areas of benefits management, leave administration, compensation, HR operations and compliance. In everything that you do, you will ensure we maintain data integrity and compliance across systems with a continuous improvement and problem-solving mindset.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL: 


Compliance 

  • Monitor, review, and report on federal, state, and local legislative changes including, OFCCP, EEO, VEVRAA, ADA, ERISA and Affirmative Action practices and trends. Analyze impact on the org and maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees to manage risk and regulatory compliance 

  • Drive the data analysis and auditing for Affirmative Action reporting; ensure compliance with federal contractor obligations, including record retention, census mapping etc. and maintain affirmative action program 

  • Partner with Sr. Director of HR on the establishment of an effective HR Compliance program, including identifying potential areas of HR compliance vulnerability and risk and proposing, implementing and providing oversight for all remediation efforts 

 

Benefits Management 

  • Act as subject matter expert on all health and welfare benefits needs across the organization, driving benefits strategy to attract and retain a diverse talent population, oversee implementation of new benefit programs and suggest changes to current programs; ensure compliance with all related benefits and total rewards laws and regulations, such as the Affordable Care Act, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA etc. 

  • Develop and manage suite of benefits and wellness programs, including health insurance, 401(k), commuter subsidies and other employee benefits 

  • Oversee annual enrollment process from renewal planning to managing employee communications 

 

HR Operations 

  • Drive the deployment and administration of operational efficiencies and develop scalable processes and continuous improvement to optimize HR operations 

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for HRIS, troubleshooting issues, driving process improvement and testing features for better user experience, leading implementations and oversee employee data management process in HRIS to ensure that data is secure, accurate and maintained consistent with company policies and privacy regulations; partner with payroll team to define, analyze and document ADP processes and data management in order to optimize and automate administrative processes 

 

Compensation 

  • Partner with Sr. Director of HR to implement and evaluate total rewards strategies that includes compensation, benefits, time-off and recognition programs 

  • Work with HR team to update, track, distribute and maintain incentive plan documentation including employee bonus program and sales incentive plans as well as partner with payroll and finance stakeholders on year-end calculations and payments 

 

 


YOU MUST HAVE (MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE) 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience with a heavy focus on HR compliance, benefits, compensation and HRIS management required 

  • 1+ years of HR team management experience required; experience being a player/coach, jumping in and “doing” as well as coaching when needed and comfortable pivoting between strategic and tactical activities 

  • Deep knowledge of Federal and State regulations, including FMLA, PFML, FLSA, COBRA, OFCCP, EEO, VEVRAA, ADA, ADEA and workers’ compensation and best practices required 

  • Advanced knowledge of benefit plan management, trends and compliance as well as establishing and executing benefit strategies required 

  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, policies, processes 

  • Advanced analytical, report writing, querying, data analysis and database management skills required 

  • Exceptional problem solving, analytic skills 

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong Excel skills and other Microsoft Suite program skills required 

  • Advanced level knowledge and competency with HRIS required 

  • Strong execution orientation with unquestioned high levels of integrity and diligence

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and tackle people-challenges creatively, drive change effectively, and deliver solutions that enable business success in a fast-paced environment 

 


IDEAL IF YOU HAVE or ARE (PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE) 

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Human Resources 

  • Experience with regulatory audits 

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation 

  • SHRM-CP, PHR or SPHR certification preferred 

  • Strong knowledge of payroll and applicable laws 

  • Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now 

  • Experience with HRIS system implementation 

  • Prior experience working in ed-tech, high-tech or other high growth, entrepreneurial and innovation focused orgs highly desirable 

  • Affirmative Action Plan development and management experience
