Partner in Publishing is searching for a Faculty Engagement Associate (US or UK) on behalf of our client, a market-leading publisher of primary source collections and award-winning digital products for Higher Education institutions and Libraries.  

Overview:

  •  Liaise with faculty to develop and convert sales leads and other opportunities for the company.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the academic community. Promote company publications, services and values in a range of academic environments.
  • Support the development of new publications and initiatives by way of academic consultancy.
  • Be an authority on the content and functionality of the company’s publications, and impart that knowledge effectively to external and internal stakeholders.

Person specification: 

  • A strong and demonstrable interest in the humanities and social sciences.
  • Interest in higher education, primary sources, research and teaching, and academic publishing
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and an ability to develop and deliver goals that help drive long-term success.
  • A drive to develop strong internal and external relationships based on trust, respect, and a dedication to education, teamwork, and collaboration.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • An aptitude for negotiation.
  •  Highly organised, with good prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Works well under pressure and in varying environments. Can adapt quickly if strategic or tactical pivots are required.

Experience and skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher within the humanities or social sciences, or significant equivalent experience, is required.
  • Some prior experience in publishing, librarianship, museums, archival work, the digital humanities, and/or other relevant areas is desirable.
  • A proven track record of delivering on targets and objectives, independently and as part of a team.
  • A demonstrable level of commercial awareness, including an understanding of current market trends.
  • An ability to create and utilize data that helps organise workflows, plan effectively, and inform decisions.
  • MS Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
